About & FAQ

What this archive contains, how to use it, and answers to common questions.

📌 This is a historical archive. It is not a live replacement for Full Time. The site is updated periodically (typically once or twice a year) with new historical data, documents, and Gazette articles. For current fixtures, results, and tables, please refer to the league's official Full Time page (see FAQ below).

📰 Archive & Updates

📅 What years does the data cover?

Different parts of the site draw on different data sources, which go back different distances. This explains why some pages have richer data than others.

Division winners & league table positions
Division winners date back to 1965/1966, but without league table data. From 2012/2013, we have the full tables and results.
Full match results
From 2012/2013 onwards. Teams that were active before that will show honours and league positions, but no individual match records.
Player statistics (goals, appearances, cards)
From 2017/2018 onwards. Pages like All-Time Stats, Player Stats, Top Scorers, 100 Club, 150 Club and Golden Boot all use this dataset. For Golden Glove, however, clean sheets were only recorded from 2020/2021 onwards.
Cup winners
Varies by competition. Some cups have records going back decades; others are more recent. Where data is unavailable, the competition simply won't appear for that year.

🧭 How to use this site

💡 Important: This site is interactive. Many elements (players, teams, seasons, and badges) are clickable and will take you to deeper views of the data.
Clickable elements across the site
The following elements are always clickable and behave consistently across all pages:
  • Player names → open the player's full profile and season-by-season statistics
  • Team names → open the team page with full history, results, and records
  • Seasons → open the relevant season view (tables, records, or filtered results)
  • Cup / league badges → open the corresponding competition page or entry
League tables, records, and stats are interactive
In league tables, records, and statistical pages, rows and values can often be clicked to explore deeper data. For example, clicking a team in a table will take you to that team's full season or club history.
Why do some things look clickable and others don't?
Only elements that lead somewhere are styled as clickable. If something is not clickable, it will not have hover effects or link styling — this is intentional to avoid confusion.
Using the Search page
The Search page searches across the entire site simultaneously — players, teams, seasons, and pages. Results are grouped by type, so you can quickly jump to a player profile, a team page, or a specific section of the archive from one search.
Filtering match history on a team page
At the bottom of every team page is a full match history. You can filter it by:
  • Home / Away – see only home or away fixtures
  • Competition – filter to league matches or a specific cup
  • Keyword search – search for a specific opponent, score, or season
Results are paginated and update instantly as you type or change filters.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

About this site

Is this the official league website?
This site is the official Basingstoke Football League archive website and is linked from the league's official Instagram. However, it is not used for live administration.

The league continues to use Full Time for official day-to-day operations such as fixtures, results, and league tables. This site exists as a historical archive and statistics platform, bringing together season history, records, and long-term data in one place.

In short: Full Time is for live match administration, this site is for historical records and statistics.
How often is the site updated?
Usually once or twice a year – for example, upon completion of a season, at the mid-way point, or if we receive substantial historical information. The Updates page announces major changes.
Where can I find current fixtures, results, and tables?
The league uses Full Time. You can view live fixtures, results, and tables here: Full Time – Basingstoke Football League.

Features explained

What is the difference between Top Scorer and Golden Boot, and Golden Glove and Most Clean Sheets?
These categories separate all-competitions totals from league-only totals, and also separate records from official awards:
  • Top Scorer → Player with the most goals across all competitions in a season (league + cups)
  • Golden Boot → Player with the most league goals only in a season (official award)
  • Most Clean Sheets → Goalkeeper with the most clean sheets across all competitions in a season (league + cups)
  • Golden Glove → Goalkeeper with the most league clean sheets only in a season (official award)
In short: "Top Scorer" and "Most Clean Sheets" include all competitions, while "Golden Boot" and "Golden Glove" are league-only awards.
What is "Player Connections"?
It shows how players are linked through matches across league history. Discover who they played with most often, who they faced most often, and compare two players to see their shared match history.
What does "Ever‑Present" mean?
The Ever-Present statistic is for players who have played in every league season since 2017/2018.
What is the 100 Club and 150 Club?
The 100 Club lists every player who has scored 100 or more league goals since 2017/2018. The 150 Club lists every player who has made 150 or more league appearances in the same period. Both are rolling honours lists — players are added as they reach the threshold.
What is "Player Partnerships"?
Player Partnerships highlights the most iconic player pairings – teammates, rivals, and everything in between.

Team pages

Why does a team page show no match results?
Full match data is only available from 2012/2013 onwards. Teams that were active before that period — or that folded before 2012 — will show their honours and league positions, but no individual match records. This is a data availability issue, not an error.
What is "Club Records (Single Season)" on a team page?
This table shows the best single-season performance for a club across five categories: most goals scored, fewest goals conceded, best goal difference, most points, and most wins. It covers all seasons for which we have full W/D/L data (from 2012/2013). Clicking the season link takes you to the full league table for that year.
What is "Records & Statistics" on a team page?
This section shows where the club ranks in the league's all-time records. Badges marked 🏆 mean the club holds a league record outright; badges marked 📊 show their ranking (e.g. 3rd, 6th). Categories include longest unbeaten run, longest scoring run, perfect seasons, biggest victories, most points in a season, fewest goals conceded, and more. Only the top 10 clubs appear for each category, so not every team will have entries here.

Data & corrections

Why is some data missing (e.g., old goal records)?
Historical records are incomplete. We add information as we find it. If you have old match reports or stats, please contact us.
What does "expunged season" mean on the Golden Boot / Golden Glove pages?
The 2019/2020 season was abandoned due to the Covid-19 pandemic before it could be completed. Results from that season were expunged.
I found an error – what should I do?
Email the website address on the Contact page (Historical Submissions / Website Enquiries). We'll correct it when we can.

Contact

Can I submit historical information (photos, reports, stats)?
Absolutely – use the Contact page (Historical Submissions section). We welcome anything that adds to the archive.
How do I find a team, become a referee, or sponsor the league?
Use the Contact page – each category has a dedicated email address.
